Oh Lorna - sending you lots of love tonight. You have been so brave and strong and absolutely the best daughter your Dad could ever have wished for. I know it will be a comfort in the weeks ahead to know that you made his last couple of weeks so precious and comfortable for your Dad.

You must be exhausted. I hope that you can get some real rest soon. I know you will be very busy with all the arrangements but I'm glad your brothers recognise all you have done and still want to do for your Dad. God Bless Lorna, xx Ailsa

Hi

So very sorry to hear Lorna. It has been such a hard, intense time for you all. I think all who have lost someone - recognise the numb feeling you have at present. Glad to hear you have family round you to cope with things - you will all be a big support to each other.
Take care.

So sorry to hear this Lorna, but it's good that your Dad died peacefully in his sleep.
You have done a fantastic job of making his last weeks comfortable, surrounded with love.
Hope all goes well with the arrangements for your Dad's final journey, but you take care and don't wear yourself out.

Love and hugs, Doreen xx

Morning Lorna

So sorry to hear the very sad news that your dad has passed away, at least you know he is no longer suffering and at peace, that how I felt when I lost my mum a few years ago now.

Thinking of you and the family at this difficult time.

Take care, Julia x

Hi Lorna

So sorry to hear this. I am so glad he was able to come out of hospital though and that he slipped away in his sleep. That is just what my dad did too. I've kept a box of some of his personal things and photos of him, which have been lovely to look through at odd times when I was feeling really sad about it all - someone suggested making up a box and keeping some special photos. This was probably the best advice anyone gave me. I even kept his favourite teddy bear tie.

I'll be thinking of you as you sort out all the arrangements and paperwork with the rest of your family. I did most of my crying before he died too - although there were still tears afterwards. Parents are such a big part of our lives.

love & hugs Anne xx

Lorna- in a way that message read so beautifully. Although it's all so unbelievably sad, your dad passed to a better place in a calm and peaceful way. Wouldn't we all want that?
You will have no regrets as you did so much for your Dad. What a wonderful daughter you are.
Please try and look after yourself as much as you can. Thinking of you all.

hi Lorna,

i am so very sorry to hear that your Dad has passed away.

i am glad you were able to have this time with him ... and that you had some quiet time with him at the end, and a blessing he went peacefully in his sleep.

i am sure you will make his final journey one he would be proud of as you have made him proud to be his Daughter.

glad the family are rallying together, there is no easy way to cope with grief.

Best Wishes to you all,

and i hope you can get some well deserved rest.

Hi Lorna

Lovely to speak with you again today. What lovely, lovely daughters you have (but you already know that!). You are doing brilliantly ThumpUp, especially through such very difficult times. Your Dad is at rest now and sleeping peacefully. You did everything you could and more until the time came for you both to let go.

Remember to think about yourself a little too and try not to do too much. Take a break whenever you can. 'Mr four paws' is going to need lots of love and attention in his new home Wub

Take care,

Lyn x

Hi Lorna

So sorry to hear about your sad loss. My dad died two years ago and feels like only yesterday, it's so much harder than you imagine, losing a parent. Both mine have gone now and I always thought I could never imagine a time without them. Feel for you. You will have so many happy memories to keep you comforted. You never get over it but you get used to it. Have yourself a good rest, much love. x

Dear Friends,

I am so touched by all your kindness, I am trying to be as strong as I can but it is getting much harder now, dad's funeral is tomorrow at 2.45pm . I have chosen to read a poem at the start of the service as I do not know if I will be able to manage it later. This is to be a service tailored to dad, with songs and poems and a brief story of his life. We have just finished printing the Order of Service sheets. I shed some tears reading it, it is hitting home now the enormity of what has happened.

I went into dad's local tonight and had a drink sitting with his company in his seat, they all made room for my husband and I to join them. I made a toast to dad and they all raised their glasses and joined me. It was lovely and I felt so close to dad, I just had the one as I had not eaten much and needed to get home for tea, but I felt so peaceful.

I really feel dad is around me helping me, I went and saw him tonight and placed the photographs in his hand which I want him to take with him. Also the red roses my daughters gave him, he looked so serene and at peace. I told him I would make him proud of the wonderful send off I have arranged for him. He look so lovely and pain free, I wish with all my heart I could have him back the way he used to be, illness free.

We had such a good relationship, and were so close. When we did annoy one another we quickly got things sorted and never let things get us down. I do not know how I will be tomorrow as I have been totally focused on what I needed to do.

Thank you so much for your kindness, its so nice to be able to express my feelings on here. 3 weeks and 2 days was all the time he had after the diagnoses. Not long at all, I am really struggling to deal with this.

Love Lorna xxx
